What's worse is that academic psychology seemingly corroborates the stereotypes and discriminatory attitudes of popular culture- at least I wish for most of those "studies" to be bullshit or distorted by society's assumptions. The elderly also suffer from bigotry and disenfranchisement, but they're arguably lucky in that their age isn't labeled as synonymous with delinquency, irresponsibility, mindless risk taking, mental incapacity in general (except for the unlucky with notable senility) or annoying authority figures.Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13850412414897676092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-9648918071329105722019-03-11T13:55:01.324-04:002019-03-11T13:55:01.324-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.heyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17438024771372622857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-44242067788386810812019-02-18T16:53:29.418-05:002019-02-18T16:53:29.418-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.heyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17438024771372622857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-63433569781521355822018-05-19T18:53:05.574-04:002018-05-19T18:53:05.574-04:00I wholly agree with you, could I please see a link...I wholly agree with you, could I please see a link to that exact article thoughN. So we breach their trust or what little trust hey have toward us instead. We keep putting political correct dogmas over best interests of cats, dogs, humans, and all other living beings.

Spaying and neutering is the ultimate endocrine disruptor, therefore, it keeps animals from having completely optimal health. Some eunuched cats may still be relatively healthy, but in many cases, their quality of life takes a dive and they get obese, diabetic, prone to bone and joint issues, depressed, lethargic, get FLUTD and UTIs, and get urinary blockages. The Bob Barker Neuter Nazis think that the weight gain after neutering can be regulated just fine purely by diet (that is, putting green tea in cat food and limiting what they eat) and exercise, but actually, this obesity can be severe and unresponsive to changes in diet and exercise. Sometimes the depression eunuched cats get lasts only for a short period of time, but it can just as easily last for a lifetime. Castrated male cats can get urinary blockages so recurring that a perineal urethostomy (which widens the urethra) is required. You might just end up with a cat that is very expensive to care for if you spay or neuter them. The gonadectomy surgeries, being endocrine disruptors with spays being major abdominal surgeries, are fraught with health and behavioral risks that rack up health bills greatly and can require medications and subsequent surgeries to ameliorate them. All this just to keep male cats from spraying indoors and mating female cats and female cats themselves from yowling at night and having kittens. Cats don’t have to be spayed and neutered to be trainable or teachable.

I don’t want cats run over by vehicles, but keeping them indoors permanently also has its issues. The friendliest cats are usually the ones who are allowed outdoors at least sometimes.

Benefits of the Outdoors for Cats:

1) Fewer behavioral problems
2) Unfettered fresh air
3) Greater social skills
4) Less risk for hyperthyroidism

Here are the YouTube ones.

Cat Gonadectomy Risks, Downsides, Complications, and Effects: https://youtu.be/Ofz4tJnpU38
Teaching Intact Male Cats Not To Spray Inside: https://youtu.be/6LHxrLVk9YU
How to Help a Female Cat in Heat: https://youtu.be/J80Jr9kbkEU
Spaying and Neutering Cats in Popular Culture: https://youtu.be/j3V6tScNAbw
Cat Gonadectomy Risks, Downsides, Complications, and Effects Update 1:
https://youtu.be/BhABkARvPxo

Here are the Vimeo ones.

Cat Gonadectomy Risks, Downsides, Complications, and Effects Update 1: https://vimeo.com/257867238
Teaching Intact Male Cats Not To Spray Inside: https://vimeo.com/257865371
How to Help a Female Cat in Heat: https://vimeo.com/253369371
Spaying and Neutering Cats in Popular Culture: https://vimeo.com/257865456
Cat Gonadectomy Risks, Downsides, Complications, and Effects: https://vimeo.com/253369262Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10245483200536354036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-67293954300199774122018-02-26T07:29:34.620-05:002018-02-26T07:29:34.620-05:00Do you think a movie or tv show about 1980s teenag...Do you think a movie or tv show about 1980s teenagers could take off? Thank you for honoring me with your kin...Kathleen,

Thank you for honoring me with your kindness and vindication. I can't tell you how lovely it feels to receive such a warm reply from someone I regard so highly.

At the risk of seeming totally impulsive (I can be, but it's a good thing!) - well, somehow, things have been massively changing for me in these ten days, and a lot of it is thanks to you. Seeing that your blog exists and is still active gave me a kind of hope I'd never really had before. And when I read in one of your other posts that Shulamith Firestone - someone whose works I haven't read, but who I've heard of enough to know that people have heard of her! - also advocated for children's freedom... Suddenly I'm seeing little pieces of hope everywhere. I've gone from trying to convince myself that these changes will happen *someday*, to believing that the tide is already coming in. It's inevitable: just like every other oppressed group in history, kids WILL be free.

For some time, I've been fighting this crushing guilt about not doing anything myself to help bring about children's liberation. But then, this past Saturday, I suddenly looked at it the other way around. I asked myself, "What if I were to spend the rest of my life fighting to STOP this from happening? To make sure that adults stayed in forcible control of children forever?" And the answer that came to me, right away: I couldn't do it. All the power I could possibly put forth wouldn't be enough to stem this tide.

Massive relief. And then, to my surprise, I realized that knowing I don't *have* to join this fight has suddenly made me feel like I can! I have all kinds of ideas and fragments of plans. I have written a short, crayon-illustrated book telling about what was done to me in that medical office, and I intend to publish it as a survivor's memoir to raise awareness and empathy. I have dreams of being a traveling speaker, going all over the county to galvanize people into making drastic changes for youth. I have ideas for more books to write, longer ones. I want to do so much!

More than anything, I need a mentor. I need someone who would believe in me enough to give me some of their time, to talk with me, to encourage me and help me find directions to channel all of this power that's suddenly come bursting out of this huge dam that was in me. And after casting about in my mind through all kinds of practical and impractical ideas, I find there's no one I would rather ask for that honor than you.

Would you please consider contacting me? I'm sorry to use your comment form for this (although you're perfectly welcome to actually post this as a comment, regardless of your answer!) But I couldn't find a link to contact you directly from your profile. If that's because you don't wnat people contacting you, I'm truly sorry to bother you. But if you would consider talking with me directly, I would be so grateful. My email address is lysana2124 at gmail dot com. (I don't mind if that shows up in a public comment, either; I don't worry much about my info being public.)

I'm trying really hard right now not to make the pleading puppy face. :)

-RamonaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12715222015112580949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-82069661379037734752015-04-18T21:37:40.490-04:002015-04-18T21:37:40.490-04:00Ramona,

It really means a lot to me to see readers of the blog having that kind of response to this project and really understanding both the severity of the problems with youth oppression and the importance of responding to these problems. I wish you the best of luck on your journey of healing from childhood trauma, abuse, and oppression. Thanks for reading the blog.Kathleen Nicole O'Nealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00353839989315839105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5151802530357480504.post-30352954016461422362015-04-18T14:36:05.408-04:002015-04-18T14:36:05.408-04:00I'm so glad this blog is still active. Thank y...I'm so glad this blog is still active. Thank you so much for doing wat you're doing here. You give me hope. As an adult survivor of childhood oppression, subjugation, and assault (and aren't so many adults survivors of that?), I have a great need to know that the issue of children's freedom is alive and being discussed. I tried to become involved myself, but it's far too triggering for me due to my own trauma.

Among other things, I was forced into restraints for an unwanted medical procedure when I was three years old, and I'm still fighting to heal from that horror 31 years later. With the kind of fight it is for me just to heal myself, I don't have anything left I can really give for the larger cause. So, it means a lot to me when I see someone like you carrying on the fight that I'm just too wounded to stay in myself.

Maybe this is what soldiers feel like when they're carried from the battlefront in a stretcher, and they look back, and they see that someone is still there fighting. (Discussions on the morality of war per se aside... I'm speaking figuratively.) Thank you so much, and please keep doing everything you can for children to be free. -RamonaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12715222015112580949noreply@blogger.com
